Animals: Creature Comforts for the Soul

It doesn't matter if they are endangered species in the rainforest or our treasured domesticated pets, animals have a way of capturing our hearts and our minds. Animal lovers run the risk of being ridiculed for reading pet horoscopes, reciting animal abuse facts, knowing the names of ones on the list of all endangered species, and attending lectures about animal communication. They search for home cooked pet recipes, purchase hand-made dog sweaters embroidered with the dear one's name, look for "alternative veterinarians" to give healing treatments to their ill cat, and join support groups for grieving pet owners; only to be mocked by those who might not understand. Again,…it doesn't matter, because true lovers of these furry and sometimes not so furry creatures don't mind the taunting.

If you're a "fan" of the domesticated variety, you fully understand how the word "pet" is synonymous with "affection, dearest, favorite, precious, and special" and how the same word can also refer to "cuddle, love, pamper, and touch." As pet owners, it's almost impossible to not reach out and make contact with our beloved furry, feathered, or scaled friends. They bring us more joy and insight than we can ever hope to give to them. It's no wonder we read pet horoscopes or consult pet psychics!

Whether they're pedigreed prize-winners, wooly mutts, or wild strays, creature enthusiasts are the ones who'll stand up for animal rights and protection. They'll do whatever they can to support threatened wildlife whether it's donating time or money to various protection agencies, volunteering at the local shelter or zoo, or putting their knowledge about animal abuse facts to the greatest of good by educating others. They'll defend every endangered species in the rainforest and make sure that no more animals are added to the list of all endangered species.
