Channeling: Communication on a Higher Plane

For many people, the mere mention of the word "channeling" conjures up images, inappropriate as they might be, of a person who, during the course of a séance, has been possessed by the spirit of a deceased loved one. Channeled information has also been defined as a "New Age word for mediumship." But just what is "mediumship?" Mediums, also known as clairvoyants, are often described as individuals who are psychic, intuitive, telepathic, and/or channelers. Perhaps two of the most well known mediums are Sylvia Brown and John Edward.

However, a clairvoyant medium that is capable of receiving channeled guidance is often also capable of doing much more than communicating with the dead. Perhaps it would be best to categorize channeling individuals as those who are able to connect with others - - such as divine teachers, angels, and aliens - - who exist on a different plane of existence - - whether time or location. Channelers that make such contacts often possess varying extra-sensory perception (ESP) skills such as clairaudience, the ability to hear things that aren't audible to others and clairsentience, the ability to sense the energies - - whether the presence, energetic auras or feelings - - of others.

The limitations that are placed on mediumship are generally of our own doing. All individuals possess the ability to connect with others as well as the ability to connect with deeper levels of themselves. While a clairvoyant medium is often described as a "radio receiver" for signals that are being sent out by those that exist on a different level, everyone is capable of tuning in to such frequencies regardless of their meditative state.

In its purest form, channeling is the blending of souls, essences, and/or spirits - - a meeting of the heart and mind of different beings. Sometimes such meetings involve the sharing of ideas, the conveying of messages - - messages that are sometimes written, sometimes drawn, sometimes spoken. Through a clairvoyant medium's channeling, consciousness is lovingly given to those that many of us are simply not aware of.
