Findhorn Foundation: A Spiritual Community offering Personal Transformation and Eco Living
Findhorn's beginning did not start as an intention to create a spiritual community, however that is what happened. It started in 1962 when Peter and Eileen Caddy and Dorothy Maclean needed a place to live. They were brought together as part of their individual commitment to follow what they felt was the will of God. Soon there were six people living in Findhorn with them, and then from there they attracted spiritual seekers from around the world whose goal was to live in peace and harmony with the land. Now the community has grown into a large foundation that offers spiritual education and personal transformation for those who wish to visit, live, or work there.
There are over 14,000 visitors annually who come from all over the world to embrace the philosophies, educational opportunities, and enjoy the co-operative intent of the Findhorn Foundation. One opportunity they offer is to learn about the ecovillage model. They share how this form of living is an inspiring and viable solution for eradicating poverty and the degradation of the environment by incorporating a low-impact lifestyle. You can learn about all components that create an ecovillage such as biological wastewater treatment and the use of solar panels.
Another offering leads to personal enhancement. The Transformation Game is the center of one of the four-day intensives or weeklong seminars they offer. They use an expanded version of this game, which takes you on quite a personal journey. The popular Angel Cards are also used as a reflective tool. You may find one of their workshops will help you create quantum leaps into greater wholeness.
There is much to learn through the intention for cooperation with one another and the planet. If you are wishing to create an alternative type of living perhaps you could learn through the years of experience the Findhorn Community has shared.
