Kissing: Do You Remember Your First Kiss?

When analyzing the kiss, you will find its mention in so many different contexts. Some are filled with fairytale anticipation, as in kissing the Frog Prince in hopes he will transform into a handsome gent. And there's the long awaited kiss that awakens the Sleeping Beauty in the famous childhood story. If you are the more romantic type, just the mention of kissing will take you into reverie, and you will likely begin to draw your lips into a slight pucker as a natural reflex. If this is the case, the term "kisser bug" is likely to be a fond memory from your childhood, or even a pet name.

However, if you are a bit more macho or have an attitude, the word kiss might come with a complete different intention, one not so filled with affection. At this moment, if someone is bugging you, your reflex might be to use the power behind the word to repel an irritating or bothersome pest. "Kiss off," you might protest, or even "Kiss my…." Well, let's not get too angry. How does it happen that such a sweet sentiment--which usually leads to amorous connection--becomes a hostile directive?

Kiss even shows up in acronyms, like in Keep It Simple Stupid, where its use reminds us that less is more. Another acronym for KISS is used in Internet chat rooms and is a reference to: Keep it Simple and Short. If you are in the transportation industry, you may use this one: Kids in Safer Seats. The word certainly lends itself to many applications.
