Meditation Relaxation Techniques: Something Soothing for Everyone

Fed up with being frazzled? Tired of popping Prozac? In need of body-soothing, mind-calming, and soul-enhancing relaxation techniques? Meditation might be just what you're looking for. With an almost overwhelming array of methods to choose from, meditating can be used to bring a sense of calmness to your everyday life, as well as to help you relax in stressful situations.

Many people have heard of the ever-popular Transcendental Meditation that was introduced to the world in 1957 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. TM, as Transcendental Meditation is often referred to, is a well-documented, scientifically tested method of lowering one's stress levels and increasing one's ability to relax, not to mention the other numerous benefits to one's overall health.

Less well known, but just as beneficial to enhance one's ability to feel calm, is color therapy. Used as a form of therapeutic healing for one's body and mind, many people find great comfort as they meditate on various colors enveloping their body. While certain colors are stimulating, others are relaxing.

Kriology, another lesser-known practice, involves learning about and practicing various Kriya yoga techniques, a mixture of movements, poses, mantras, breathing routines, and meditation. By meditating while performing Kyria, it's believed that the relaxation aspect of the entire practice is greatly enhanced.

Learn how to incorporate the age-old art of meditating into your daily life to increase your sense of serenity and peace. While many people study Transcendental Meditation and Kriya techniques by attending group sessions and classes, therapeutic color meditative practices generally are more easily mastered, even in the confines of one's own home. Sit in on a few classes to help identify those styles that seem to be a good fit for your current state of being. There's really no incorrect choice. Simply sit, breathe, visualize...relax.
