Spooky Stories of the Paranormal Kind

I love scary ghost videos and am a firm believer in the afterlife. I think spirits stick around for one of two reasons, they remain earth bound due to a tragic and/or violent death or they are tied to the earth by grieving people who can't let them go. This would explain why after people die we often see or smell something associated with them; they are trying to comfort us so they can move on. I also think that a lot of ghost sightings are merely loops in time, a kind of ectoplastic recording of an event, which replay at specific times where the sightings happen. (That's why these ghosts don't interact with paranormal investigators, they go about their business.)
I have yet to see an actual shadowy or translucent figure on tape. Most ghosts caught on video appear as floating orbs-and most of these can be explained away with lens dust or sunspots. In fact, on the web one can find some great footage of both unexplained paranormal sightings and "false positives"- photos of ghosts that are very convincing until the investigators prove that they are natural occurring phenomena. They also have shots of straight up hoaxes. Even better, they have a catalogue of EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recordings that will make your hair stand on end, which reminds me of a scary ghost story.
A friend of mine was making a tape of the family so she could send it to her daughter. The tape recorder is clear, the usual "we miss you," and "come home soon." There is a "dead spot" on the tape where no one is speaking, and then very distinctly the words "come away with me." The voice speaking does not sound like any of the family members and she insists that no one else was there- cool, hunh?
