Eliminating distractions creates greater self-identity and expands your ideas of what is possible.
Question: Alana, I was laid off in January of this year. This was the eleventh job and the ninth layoff I have experienced in the last sixteen years.
I pray for a new door to open, and not in aircraft or aerospace. I have been praying and meditating in a new direction, but I seem stuck in the mud.
I desperately need a change. I am hoping and praying to find my life’s purpose. What should I do?
Alana’s Answer: Hello! Thank you for bringing your question to Alana, dear one.
Your question sounds like you are at a point where you know it is time to expand your imagination about what is possible. Often, we encounter situations that begin and end because our spirit wants to manifest a more profound desire to make a change.
Repetitive Experiences as a Signal for Change
In situations like you are describing the occurring changes feel repetitive, and you are now at a point where you want to explore new possibilities. Alana senses that you already know this from the way you described your question.
Now, it’s time to stimulate possibility by expanding your belief to include the perception that options are out there. Also, pay greater attention to what already exists within your sphere or environment.
Begin by opening your ears and senses. Pay attention, and you will hear people talk about their activities, interests, and possible vocational ideas. Some may stimulate ideas that can lead to opportunities. Broaden your senses and tune into your nature, what you feel drawn to explore. Notice if anything you hear excites you or invokes an interest within you.
Probe for Limiting Beliefs
You may have a part of your nature that discounts possibilities because you feel you are at a certain age, and learning something new would be difficult.
Alana feels that within you have yet to surrender to your desires that are instinctual and natural and relate to your innate abilities. They are talents that could come quite easily.
So, let go of any limiting thoughts, such as the thought that you are too old to take a new direction, and allow that thought to relax.
Now, Alana feels that as you broaden your belief in possibility, you could also make time to explore.
Connecting with Authenticity and a Mission
Explore a mission statement! What might be a mission in your life that would bring you delight? What if you were to tune into your authentic nature and delve into some exploratory questions that lead to self-discovery?

What might your life be like if you could accomplish something in this life that would bring you great joy?
There are many wonderful books and tools out there to help people identify and connect with their personal mission. You see, what we are best at, what comes easiest for us, and what we have the most success with is what brings us joy.
Perhaps you could take time daily to turn your energy inward and identify a specific mission that would delight you.
Eliminating Distractions
The next thing Alana suggests is to examine where you get distracted. Try eliminating what pulls you off course. Look at distractions where you spend your time and energy.
Notice if you are spending time and energy in areas that pull you off course and keep you from surrendering and finding more joy. Then, begin one by one to say no to these things, take your energy and attention, and redirect it by continuing to turn it inward to explore your authentic self.
Eliminating distractions creates greater self-identity and expands your ideas of what is possible.
Keep this beautiful energy flowing by continuing to turn toward ideas that excite you. Focus on what you want to create rather than on what you don’t have.
Better Ways Are Ahead
Alana feels that these exercises will begin to develop a greater concentration of energy within you, moving towards excitement, and the jobs that have come and gone will no longer be attractive.
In other words, you will no longer find that you are doing something just because you know you can do it, or will you remain in a redundant and unfulfilling field.
It is time, dear one, to expand your wings and your sense of self. Alana knows that with your heart, the kindness within you, and the presence within your nature, many individuals would benefit from being in a relationship with you in many new vocational areas.
So celebrate, dear one. Alana feels you are on a path to the benefits of self-discovery! I also sense you will soon notice there is an ideal job that completely aligns with your core mission.
Thank you, dear one, for your question.
